The award-winning 240-acre Devonian Botanical Gardens are stunning during the summer months. Located at the University of Alberta, it features a Kurimoto Japanese Garden, a butterfly-filled Tropical Showhouse, beautiful collections of flowers, a Native Peoples Garden, and so much more. This victorian mansion with its Classic Revival Architecture overlooks the North Saskatchewan River and catches attention due to its pure size and grandeur. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, full of mature trees, and even include a fountain.
Built in 1915, the warm wood and stone finishings of the lobby, combined with soft lighting, can lead to magnificent photographs whether you have a large or small group to include. Additionally, as long as it's not too cold outside, be sure to take advantage of the picturesque stairwell that leads to the front door and the gorgeous grounds that surround the building. You can even rent out their Convocation Hall for your wedding reception or ceremony!

If you'll be getting married in the warmer months, be sure to consider the following outdoor sites for your wedding photos.1. The Alberta Legislature
Indoor photos are not allowed here, however outdoor photo shoots here are permitted and absolutely free. This is a great choice of locale if you love the look of historical architecture for a backdrop, but would also like to add some variety to your wedding album by mixing in some shots in a more natural setting too. The landscaped grounds of "the ledge" are full of mature trees and plentiful flowers.
